This training course is based on the compliance requirements placed on Trainer Courses Ltd by the Health & Safety at Work (Etc.) Act of 1974; Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981; and requirements placed on healthcare employers by industry standards e.g. The Care Certificate Standard 12 complying with the UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines. These requirements have been used as reference points for this training course.
Apart from ensuring compliance with the above, the training course is useful in assisting Health & Social Care Diploma candidates with the various elements of their learning.
Trainers will ensure that during the ‘Level 2 Practical Element’ learners have practised maintaining the Airway, correct use of Chest Compressions, correct use of Lung ventilation and how an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can be operated safely & appropriately.
All clinical staff must have received training in the recognition, monitoring and management of a deteriorating patient in accordance with their local policy. This includes being able to perform a basic set of physical observations, which consist of: Temperature, Pulse, Respiratory Rate, Blood Pressure, Oxygen Saturation and Consciousnes level. Before certification, the trainer must ascertain that clinical staff have received this training or arrange its provision in accordance with their local policy.
Target Population: All staff who may require First Aid Basic Life Support Training.
Course Duration: FOUR / SIX HOURS depending on group size.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the session questionnaire and practical.
Number of Participants: 12 Maximum.
